Welded pipe dieThe manufacturer said that the role of heat treatment is to improve the mechanical properties of the material, eliminate residual stress, and improve the machinability of the metal. Heat treatment processes can be divided into two broad categories: preparatory and final. Today, welded pipe mold manufacturers mainly talk about why stainless steel welded pipes undergo heat treatment.
1. Preliminary heat treatment
The heat treatment process has annealing, standardization, aging, and adjustment. The purpose is to improve the processing performance, eliminate internal stress, and prepare the metal phase for the final heat treatment.
(1) Annealing and normalizing
Used for hot-worked blanks, carbon steels and alloy steels with carbon content greater than 0.5 percent are often annealed to facilitate cutting, thereby reducing hardness. Carbon steel and alloy steel with carbon content less than 0.5% use normalizing when the hardness is too low to avoid sticking the knife. Both can trim and uniformly prepare the grains for later heat treatment. It is often arranged after the manufacture of the blank and before roughing.
(2) Aging treatment
It is mainly used to eliminate the internal stress generated in the process of blank manufacturing and processing.
Welded pipe mold manufacturers said that in order to avoid excessive transportation workload, for parts with general precision, an aging treatment can be reserved before finishing. However, high-precision parts (such as coordinate boring boxes, etc.) need to be placed at least twice aging treatment process. Simple parts are generally not aged.
In addition to castings, for some precise parts with low rigidity, in order to eliminate the internal stress generated during processing and stabilize the machining accuracy of the parts, multiple aging treatments are usually performed between rough machining and semi-finishing. Part of the shaft parts processing in the school directly after the project should also arrange aging treatment.
(3) tempering
Quenching is the high temperature tempering treatment after quenching, it can obtain uniform and detailed tempering sothosome preparation, for the future surface quenching and nitriding treatment to reduce deformation in preparation, so the quenching and tempering can also be used as a preparatory heat treatment.
2. Final heat treatment
The purpose is to improve mechanical properties, such as hardness, wear resistance and strength.
(1) Quenching
Surface quenching is widely used because of its small deformation, oxidation and decarburization, and it also has the advantages of high external strength, good wear resistance, and good internal toughness and strong impact resistance. In order to improve the mechanical properties of surface quenching parts, heat treatment such as quenching and tempering or normalizing is often required as a preparatory heat treatment.
(2) Carburizing and quenching
Carbon quenching is suitable for low carbon steel and low alloy steel. First, the carbon content of the surface of the part is increased. After quenching, the surface becomes high hardness and maintains a certain strength and high toughness.
